The events of 2025, chapter by chapter

This second edition of the Global Affairs Magazine from CSS With A CSP gathers the national and international events of 2025 that matter for Current Affairs and Pakistan Affairs. Its latest material reaches the start of December 2025, from the India-Pakistan crisis in May to the Istanbul talks with Kabul, the COP30 outcome and the Gaza ceasefire.

Most chapters move from what happened, to what it means for Pakistan, to what Pakistan can do next. That order makes a chapter easy to turn into the outline of an answer.

What is inside

  • National chapters on India and Pakistan after Pahalgam, the Indus Waters Treaty held in abeyance, the economy and the IMF programme, the 2025 floods, the reset with the United States, the SCO and the TTP-Taliban nexus.
  • International chapters on Trump's second term and its tariffs, climate action from COP29 in Baku to COP30 in Belém, AI and democracy, Russia, Ukraine and Europe, BRICS, geo-economics, great-power rivalry in the Indian Ocean region, and the US-Israel nexus.
  • A summary of the IMF's governance and corruption diagnostic for Pakistan, published in November 2025.
  • Infographics and maps, among them the lines of the October 2025 Gaza ceasefire, the growth of BRICS and the timeline of Arab normalisation with Israel.
  • Current affairs MCQs from 2025 with each answer marked in bold, and précis tips that set out how a précis differs from a summary.
  • A factbook of 2025 figures on Pakistan's economy, jobs, water, education, democracy, climate and digital growth, with its standing in global indexes.
  • Selected articles and reviews from other publications, each with a link to read it in full.

Build each chapter into answer material

Read a chapter for its argument first, then use its policy section as the way forward in your answer. The India-Pakistan chapter, for example, gives you the cause of the crisis, its cost to Pakistan and to the region, and recommendations that run from structured dialogue to strategic restraint.

The factbook can then supply a figure for each argument. Check every figure against the latest official release before you use it, because 2025 numbers are often revised.

A revision routine for each chapter

Our suggested routine for working through the magazine, one chapter at a time.

  1. Read the chapter and write its central argument in two or three lines.
  2. Put the dates, names and agreements it mentions on one timeline page for the topic.
  3. Note one Pakistani interest at stake and one option from the chapter's policy section.
  4. Match the chapter to figures in the factbook that support its argument.
  5. Outline an answer to a past CSS question on the same theme, using the chapter for background and its policy section for the way forward.
  6. Once both the national and international chapters are done, test your recall with the MCQs.

Carrying a chapter past December 2025

The magazine's coverage ends in early December 2025. To bring a topic up to date, start from the last dated event in its chapter, add what has happened since from current sources, and compare the chapter's analysis and policy options with how events have turned out.

When you use one of its events, give the month and year, such as the May 2025 crisis or the November 2025 talks in Istanbul.

Who this edition suits

Candidates who want the national and international events of 2025 in one place, organised by issue, with Pakistan's position worked through in each chapter.

It shares several background chapters with the 2025 Global Affairs Annual Review: the IMF, the SCO, the TTP-Taliban nexus, AI and democracy, BRICS, geo-economics and Gaza. What it adds is the coverage of 2025, the MCQs, the précis tips and the factbook.
